What is SAT?

The SAT test is a standardized entrance exam used by American universities to assess the academic abilities of potential students. While universities generally accept academic results from high school qualifications, they often require verification through this additional test. Originally abbreviated as the Scholastic Aptitude Test, this test is now known as the Scholastic Assessment Test. If you’re looking for a clearer and shorter answer to questions like “What is the SAT test?” or “What does SAT stand for?” you can say that it is one of two standardized general college entrance exams in the United States, the other being the ACT exam. Administered by the College Board, the test has been used since 1926 to measure whether a high school student is ready to start college.

What is the 2023 Update?

In 2023, the College Board transformed the SAT test into a digital format and reduced the test time from three hours to approximately two hours. The digital SAT includes components for reading and writing, as well as a math section. Students are given two hours and fourteen minutes to complete the test, including 64 minutes for Reading and Writing and 70 minutes for Math. Each component is divided into two modules of equal length, with a 10-minute break between the Reading and Writing and Math sections. The first module of each section contains a mix of easy, medium, and hard questions. Depending on how students perform in the first module, the questions in the second module will either be more difficult or easier. For the most up-to-date updates, you can check the College Board website.
